Caree Brown LCSW (Carole-Lee LCS 10338) is a licensed individual and couples psychotherapist with 50 years of experience in individual, marital and family therapy. She has an advanced diploma in Couple and Family Therapy from the Institute of Family Psychiatry in Montreal, Canada. She was voted ” Best of the Bay Psychotherapist 2010″ and was awarded “Best Therapist in Northern California 2011”  by KRON Channel 4 Television. In addition, The city of Walnut Creek has repeatedly honored Caree in 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 by awarding her “Best Psychotherapist in Walnut Creek”

For Caree, her work is her calling. “I am humbled by the magnificent process of growth and change . . . and I am passionate about inspiring people (and their relationships) to stretch beyond themselves.”

Caree’s clients claim that it is her depth of wisdom, her exceptional warmth and caring personality, and her capacity to inspire creative breakthrough solutions that make her style unique. Distinctive from other approaches, Caree does not feel that therapy usually needs to be a long drawn out process (unless long-term is particularly indicated.) Her clients are often surprised to resolve their issues much faster than they had originally expected.

Whether it involves an individual, couple or a family, most people are better able to create the change they seek when they learn how to make that change. As Einstein once said, “Most problems cannot be solved at the same level of thinking as when they were created.”

Caree employs an eclectic, collaborative approach, which may include mindfulness, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic. Her choice of intervention is never formalaic and is always geared to the uniqueness of each client’s situation. Her style is warm, creative, and down to earth.

Caree’s education and credentials are exceptional and she brings a standard of excellence to her work as well as to her professional development. She has published articles, taught classes, led groups, run workshops and has supervised other medical professionals in Montreal and New Jersey as well as here in the Bay Area.
